Adventures with Foetie

I'm starting to feel like I'm bonding with the wee one lately. All the track-your-pregnancy websites have been telling me for weeks now that Foetie can likely hear and that I should talk to them, but I tried it a few weeks ago and it felt contrived and strange. Over the last week or so, it has felt more natural. In fact, I've been talking to Foetie without consciously doing it. Discussing things like the ways we're gonna hang out when s/he's out and what a sillypants they are sometimes while they're still inside.

Sillypants activities of awesomeness from the last 24 hours:

1) last night while I was internetting and laying on my back with my warm netbook perched on my bump, Foetie migrated to the far right side of my belly and the bump became totally asymmetrical. It was 2" higher on the right side than on the left. It was very cool. (Yes, I moved the netbook to a better place after that.)

2) Before bed, I listened with my foetoscope and heard the heartbeat loud and strong. And I found it almost instantly instead of having to search around for 10 minutes. I was able to hear it so well and so easily because I was actually able to palpate where Foetie was. I couldn't tell head from bum, but I could tell the linear length of the wee one's body. Also, since I had recently felt hiccups, I had a pretty good idea where the head and chest were. It was very cool.

3) This morning, before getting out of bed, I decided to try to properly palpate to see if I could find the head and/or bum like I would for a client. I found the head!! It was low in my pelvis and about as big as a red delicious apple. And then Foetie kicked me - hard!! So I stopped, and we had a little chat about how silly that was of me to poke around so hard and how strong Foetie is and how proud I am that they are growing and (apparently) healthy.

I am enjoying this relationship building.
Finally.
(I am feeling a bit more relaxed about things now that Foetie weighs about 2 lbs and is clearly stronger.)

p.s. I am in my THIRD TRIMESTER now!! It feels so good.
