Buoyancy

I wanted to try swimming pregnant because I've heard it was super awesome to experience the weightlessness. I got my chance this weekend when a sweet old friend was in town staying at a hotel with a nice pool.  The bonus to swimming pregnant that I discovered was that I didn't get cold while in the water! My progesterone furnace kept me delightfully warm.  I think I might try to swim once a week now that I've dicovered this treat.  Usually the chilliness is why I avoid swimming, so it'll be nice to play in the water like a proper Piscean without fearing the chill.

I also learned that horizontal stripes DO in fact make a person look wider. Every day people tell me I'm getting bigger (which isn't too annoying for me because I have a pretty solid body image thanks to my feminist politics, but I do feel that it is a rude thing to tell women in general) but when I put on the striped pullover I could really see the the roundness of my belly in a new way.  It was impressive!
Behold!
This is what 22 weeks looks like (in horizontal stripes.)
I decided not to post the photos of the belly in a bikini though I'm sure that my swimming companion would have found it to be completely hilarious to do a photo shoot at the pool.

In other news:
I think I'm fighting a cold, which is probably the result of letting myself get overtired this weekend + my cubicle neighbour having something pestillent + my nose already being runny from allergies to the Flowering Stinkbush* that is a few doors down from my bedroom window.
Wish me luck fighting the cold drug-free.  If I don't update soon, it's because I drowned while using my neti pot tonight.  (I have a love hate relatiohsip with it. Mostly I admire its power from afar and avoid using it until I am desperate.)
